Ruth Asawa

We find inspiration in the art of American-Japanese artist Ruth Asawa, who transformed simple looped wire into mesmerising three-dimensional sculptures. Using a single material; galvanised, copper, or brass wire, she created intricate, handwoven forms that appear both delicate and strong. The mesh-like quality of her work allows light and shadow to interact, giving her sculptures an ethereal, almost weightless presence. Suspended in space, these organic shapes evoke natural forms embodying both movement and stillness. Through her mastery of wire, Asawa redefined sculpture as both structure and transparency, blurring the boundaries between solid and void.
